Eric P. Rothenberg is a partner at Orsi Arone Rothenberg Turner, LLP. Located in Needham, Massachusetts, and representing business and individual clients throughout the greater Boston metropolitan area, he focuses his practice primarily on federal and state tax planning matters, including tax-free exchanges, bitcoin and other cryptocurrency tax strategies, purchases and sales of businesses, partnerships, and the tax treatment of startup companies. Mr. Rothenberg also assists clients with the preparation of their tax returns, and he has appeared on their behalf before the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Tax Court, and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.
In addition to his tax practice, Mr. Rothenberg also assists clients with the preparation and review of wills, trusts, health care and financial powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents. Admitted to practice in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia, Mr. Rothenberg is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He has received acclaim from his fellow professionals for the quality of his work and high degree of ethics, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.
Mr. Rothenberg has delivered numerous presentations on topics related to his practice areas, including the use of buy-sell agreements in closely held businesses, sales and use taxes, and tax planning for real estate syndications. He has also authored or co-authored several articles, including one on the treatment by the Internal Revenue Service of cryptocurrencies. Mr. Rothenberg is a member of several professional groups, including the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. A graduate of Cornell University, he holds a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from the Boston University Questrom School of Business.
