Matt is licensed to practice law in both California and Utah. His practice includes business and trust litigation, estate planning, probate, franchising and personal injury. Education Matt received his bachelor?s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University ? Hawaii. He received his law degree from Brigham Young University ? J. Reuben Clark Law School. While in law school, he assisted attorney Robert S. Tippett in publishing the well-respected treatise The Utah Law of Trusts & Estates. Professional Career After law school, Matt worked at an estate planning and business law firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. After moving back to his hometown of San Diego Matt has counseled and assisted many clients in their estate planning, franchising and business needs, and he has represented clients in various business and probate litigation matters, including contract disputes, franchisee/franchisor disputes, trustee/beneficiary disputes, personal injury cases and many more. Matt operates the Newbold Law Firm as a solo practitioner and is currently of counsel at: Rostam Law, a general practice litigation firm based in southern California; and Franchise Smith, a law firm that represents franchise clients from across the nation and internationally. Personal Interests Matt is a native of San Diego County. Some of his personal hobbies include surfing, playing the guitar, playing the piano and rooting for the Padres and the Chargers.
