I'll also outline a few pitfalls to avoid. Probate comes up when a loved one has passed away. If there was a will or trust, I help the personal representative or trustee gather assets, pay debts, and make distributions as instructed. If there was no will, I help the personal representative do the same, and make the distributions as required by law. In both situations, i.e. ensure that the personal representative does it correctly and avoid personal liability. Depending on the situation, probate can be completed in as little as three months, and at a reasonable charge.
