Mr. Sfara is also highly active with the New York State Bar Association's Trust and Estates Law, Elder Law and Special Needs Law, and Entertainment, Art and Sports Law Sections, and he is past director and past president of both the Mattatuck Museum and the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of the United Way of Greater Waterbury and the Connecticut Community Foundation.

A 1974 graduate of Princeton University, Mr. Sfara obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and the U.S. Tax Court.
