He is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association, and volunteers with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.

Mr. Padgett has served as an adjunct professor in the legal studies department at Butler University and writes and lectures extensively on estate and trust litigation topics. He holds licenses to practice law before all Indiana state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern districts of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
