A former Superior Court prosecutor, Mr. Surprenant obtained his Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1991 followed by his J.D. from the Suffolk University Law School in 1996. He became authorized to practice in Massachusetts the same year.ÿ

A valuable contributor to his community, Mr. Surprenant volunteers his time and services to those deprived. He was given the First Justices? Award for Pro Bono Publico Excellence by Bristol and Plymouth Bar Associations for providing hundreds of hours of service to low-income citizens. He was also among Bishop Stang High School?s President's Advisory Board.

Mr. Surprenant?s knowledge has made event organizers and educational institutions request him to present on elder law topics. He authored ?The Southeastern Massachusetts Nursing Home Guide? and contributes as an author to Elder Law Today, a monthly publication that provides timely, valuable legal information on elder law.

Active in his legal circle, Mr. Surprenant is a member of the New Bedford Bar Association and the Bristol County Bar Association. He formerly served as the president of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys ? Massachusetts Chapter and was named the Outstanding Program Committee Member as a result of his outstanding services and leadership skills. He sits on the boards of the Massachusetts Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys and the Massachusetts Bar Association.ÿ
