About Michael Miller

I have been practicing law for approximately 28 years, the majority of which I have focused on estates, trusts and the representation of fiduciaries. As a result of the diversity of assets in the matters on which I have been counsel or fiduciary, I have from time to time been involved in complex real estate matters, managed substantial portfolios, drafted pre and post-nuptial agreements, assisted in sophisticated estate planning and planning for incapacity, as well as estate litigation and complex accounting. In order to most effectively serve my clients, I have developed strategic alliances with top professionals from several firms in areas as diverse as real estate, commercial litigation, matrimonial and family law matters, tax law, investment advisors, accountants and many others. This affords me the ability, based upon the client?s needs, to assemble the best team possible - unfettered by the weaknesses or lack of expertise of a single law firm. I have been very active in the organized bar. Locally, I have been President of the New York County Lawyers? Association (NYCLA), one of the largest and most progressive local bar associations in the United States. At NYCLA I have chaired or co-chaired many committees, including the Committees on the Judiciary, Continuing Legal Education, Civil Court and State Court Facilities. At the state and national levels, I have been a member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association and a Fellow of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), where I served on its Nominating Committee and served on its House of Delegates for more than a decade. I have chaired the NYSBA?s Committee on the Unlawful Practice of Law and the Elder Law Section?s Committee on Fiduciaries and Guardianships, in addition to serving as the editor of the Elder law Section newsletter. I devote a great deal of time to public service and have helped develop several pro bono programs at NYCLA. Beyond the legal community, I served as an Election Supervisor in Bosnia and interviewed Kosovar refugees for the International War Crimes Tribunal under the auspices of the ABA?s Central and Eastern Europe Legal Initiative.
