He went on to earn his law degree from Wake Forest School of Law. Following law school, he passed the North Carolina bar examination and obtained his license to practice law before all North Carolina state courts.

Prior to joining Orsbon & Fenninger, LLP, Mr. Coumas spent three years practicing at another Charlotte based law firm, where he also concentrated his practice solely on estate planning and probate.
