As founder of Melinda Weerts Law PLLC, Melinda Hanson Weerts is committed to representing clients in Fargo, North Dakota, and throughout Cass, Grand Forks, Traill, Richland, Sargent and Ransom counties. She also accepts clients in Becker, Clay, Wilkin, Otter Tail, Mahnomen and Polk counties, Minnesota. Ms. Weerts focuses her practice on handling family law cases that involve custody issues, divorce and complex divorce.

Graduating summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota, Ms. Weerts earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and psychology. She then went on to receive a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School in 1996.

Going through legal matters is difficult, especially when family issues are involved. Drawing upon her own experience as both a single and married mother, Ms. Weerts understands the situations her clients are experiencing. Over the course of her career, Ms. Weerts has built a reputation for her compassionate service. She treats each client with respect, regardless of his or her situation, because she knows how challenging a divorce or custody dispute can be.

Taking the time to listen to her client's goals, Ms. Weerts strives to provide sound advice regarding the legal options that are available in each unique situation. Whenever possible, she encourages both sides to work together to find the best solution for the entire family. However, when settling the case outside the courtroom is not possible, she will advocate for her clients, providing strong evidence and case law to support their position.
