The founder of the Willhelm Law Firm, Kevin W. Willhelm has a very diverse practice that encompasses criminal defense matters, estate planning and administration, consumer bankruptcy, family law, and Social Security Disability claims and appeals. Located in Abilene, Texas, his clients come from Taylor, Jones, and Lubbock counties and other parts of the state.

Mr. Willhelm attended Abilene Christian University, and in 1989, he received a Bachelor of Science in psychology along with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication. He then enrolled at St. Mary?s University School of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1992. Mr. Willhelm has been certified as a specialist in consumer bankruptcy law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and he has been admitted to practice in Texas since 1992. He is additionally admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Western and Northern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Willhelm has successfully defended people who have been accused by the state or the federal government of having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of cases that he has worked on have included driving while impaired, weapons violations, sex offenses, assault, murder and white collar crimes. In his bankruptcy practice, Mr. Willhelm?s experience has encompassed consumer bankruptcies under Chapters 7 and 13, Chapter 11 business reorganizations, and ranch and farm bankruptcies that are governed by Chapter 12.

In his family law practice, Mr. Willhelm has assisted clients in navigating the divorce process, and he has also handled adoptions as well as modifications to and the enforcement of existing parenting or support court orders. He also assists other clients who are no longer able to work and who are seeking their rightful Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.
