About Yale Law Group, PLLC

Jennifer Yates is an attorney at Yale Law Group, PLLC, based in Denton, Texas. She divides her practice among family law matters, estate planning and administration, and general civil litigation, representing clients throughout the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, but largely practicing in Denton County.

Born and raised in Texas, as were several generations of her family before her, Ms. Yates attended the University of North Texas in Denton, where she double-majored in History and Spanish and graduated a semester early with a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude. She then attended law school at Southern Methodist University, where Ms. Yates participated in moot court competitions throughout the country before obtaining her Juris Doctor in 2016. She became admitted to practice before all Texas state courts later that year. Ms. Yates has served as President of the Denton County Young Lawyers Association and Board Member of the Denton County Bar Association.

In her family law practice, Ms. Yates works with clients whose marriages have irretrievably broken down and who are facing such issues as child custody and visitation, the division of marital assets and debts, spousal claims, and child support. She often helps them negotiate a settlement agreement that addresses these matters, but if talks have broken down, she is a zealous advocate on their behalf in the courtroom. Ms. Yates has also represented clients with existing parenting or support court orders that they need to have enforced or modified.

Additionally, Ms. Yates devotes a significant portion of her practice to representing parents and children in CPS matters - both at the trial court and appellate levels. Ms. Yates fervently advocates for her clients' rights and interests, both under the law and in equity.

Ms. Yates also assists clients with preparation and review of wills, trusts, advance medical directives, and powers of attorney. When an estate requires court intervention or action, Ms. Yates has experience representing clients in probate court, including estate administrations, heirship proceedings, and will contests. She has also appeared in court on behalf of clients that are involved in breach of contract claims and other business disputes.
