About Amber Homolka

In 2004, Amber graduated from LSU Law Center in Baton Rouge. She earned her first law license in Louisiana and clerked for the Honorable Durwood Conque in the Fifteenth Judicial District. Ernst and Young's Private Client Services was her next stop, where she began a career in tax in San Francisco's Financial District. She handled income and estate tax legal opinions and returns for high net worth families. She is listed as an editor to the Ernst and Young Tax Guide, an industry standard, for 2006. Later, as a tax attorney in private investment management at Lehman Brothers, she worked with a team of tax attorneys, assisting private clients and traders with income tax and estate planning matters, often involving complex securities transactions. After her exposure to talented entrepreneurs in the Bay Area and a Wall Street firm, it was natural to spend several years in private industry, primarily as a consultant. Amber has a deep understanding of the struggles of special needs parents and grandparents. She took a detour from the law to parent an autistic child and to teach in Houston schools. Helping families to plan for special needs children is both a calling and a passion. Having drafted wills and trusts for numerous Houston individuals and families at a local firm, Amber soon realized the need for conscientious, responsive legal counsel in this area. She began her own firm where she relishes meeting with talented individuals and families of all backgrounds. Amber is licensed to practice law in Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. She holds a J.D. and Bachelor of Civil Law Studies from LSU Law Center (2004) and a B.A. from UNC Chapel Hill (2001). She has also completed advanced coursework in real estate tax and estate planning in University of Houston Law Center's LLM program.
