About George W. Shanks

Having practiced law for over 50 years in Harrisonburg, Luray and Front Royal, Virginia, George W. Shanks is now a Counsel at Miller, Earle & Shanks, PLLC. Throughout his long and distinguished legal career, he has focused on estate planning, personal injury and criminal defense cases.

Mr. Shanks obtained his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his Juris Doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law. He is licensed to practice in all Virginia state courts, as well as before the Virginia Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

A distinguished member of the legal community, Mr. Shanks has served as Commissioner of Accounts for Page County, Virginia since 2003, and is also a member of the Page County Bar Association, the Warren County Bar Association, the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Mr. Shanks is likewise known for his pro bono and charitable work, He is a member emeritus of the board of directors of Lawyers Helping Lawyers, a former member of the board of directors of Blue Ridge Legal Services, and a current member of the board of directors of the Virginia Law Foundation. He likewise serves as lay chaplain and choir member at the First Baptist Church in Front Royal.
