Julie is an attorney in Seattle, Washington with over fifteen years of experience litigating civil, administrative and criminal matters at the administrative, trial, and appellate levels. Her areas of expertise include trust and estate planning, administration, contested guardianships, fiduciary representation, and contract and civil litigation. Prior to starting her own practice, Julie was a partner at Reed Longyear Malnati & Ahrens PLLC.

Ms. Sommer also serves as a Guardian ad Litem and Settlement Guardian ad Litem for the King County Superior Court as well as for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. She has served on the Washington State Bar Association Guardianship Task Force and is a member of the King County Bar Association, Washington State Trial Lawyers, and several KCBA and WSBA sections. She is admitted to the Washington State Bar Association, the United States District Court, Western District of Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

As a volunteer for Mary?s Place, a homeless shelter for women and children, Julieÿuses her legal expertise to advocate for those who need it most. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Sommer worked in political consulting and as a lobbyist for the Washington State Association for Justice.ÿ

A native ofÿMartins Ferry, Ohio, Julie earned a bachelor?s degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of an NCAA National Championship swim team. Formally listed among the top ten in the World Swim Rankings, Julie was also a member of the United States Swimming National Team. She was an individual Conference champion as a freshman, a four-time NCAA All-American, and competed in the 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials.
