About The Law Center, S.C.

A family law attorney with The Law Center, S.C., Kristi Baker represents clients statewide. She represents clients in the following areas of law: transgender law, LGBTQ family law, appeals, adoption, grandparent rights, foster parent rights, guardianship, Child in Need of Protection and/or Services (CHIPS), guardian ad litem appointments, paternity, child placement, child custody, child support, divorce and dissolution, and school law. Her school law practice includes expulsion and Individualized Education Plans.

A zealous, compassionate, and fair voice for families and children who are working their way through the court system, Ms. Baker began her path to a successful career when she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then attended the Mitchell Hamline School of Law and graduated cum laude with her Juris Doctor in 2014.

While in law school, she was the Hamline Child Advocacy Clinic?s Student Director. Long before law school, Ms. Baker advocated for children and families both in the court system and in the community. She advocated for abused and neglected children as a volunteer and as a foster parent. Her work as a volunteer coordinator for homeless families with children gave her insight into the challenges faced by families in Dane County in finding basic resources and gave her a profound respect for parents working to meet their children?s needs in the midst of chaos.

Ms. Baker serves on the Board of the Children and the Law Section of the State Bar, an elected position. She also served on the Board of the Wisconsin CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) from 2014 to 2018.ÿ

Admitted to practice in the state of Wisconsin, Ms. Baker gives back to her community in many ways. She is involved with the Student Expulsion Prevention Project and the Wisconsin Pro Bono Society.
